Jennifer Broutin Farah
Jennifer Broutin Farah is the Founder & CEO of SproutsIO, leading the development of new technologies that redefine our interaction with food. Jennifer’s work prioritizes small-scale interventions that create large-scale impact in cities in such domains as low power energy harvesting, personal energy generation, and urban agriculture. She has an insatiable curiosity and the mettle to make the impossible possible.
Jennifer earned an M.S. in Media Arts and Sciences from the MIT Media Lab, an M.S. Advanced Architecture Design from Columbia University, and a BArch from the University of Miami.
Jennifer’s work has been widely recognized by Fast Company, Wired Magazine, the Financial Times, BBC Focus, Metropolis Magazine, GOOD Magazine, and the Discovery Science Channel among others. Jennifer is also the recipient of numerous awards including the 2015 Cartier Women’s Initiative Award Finalist, 2014 WIRED Innovation Fellowship, 2014 Tech Hero by Glamour Magazine, FOUNDER.org $100K, MassChallenge Finalist, MIT $100K Semifinalist, Spark Design Award, IBM Research Award for Smart Cities, Eyebeam Art & Technology Center Residency, NYU Green Grant, PSC CUNY Research Grant, and the WellTech Prize.
She has recently lectured at Stockholm University, Salt Art Space in Istanbul, University of the Arts in Philadelphia, California College of the Arts, and the University at Buffalo in New York. Jennifer has taught at Columbia University, Pratt Institute, and at the New York City College of Technology.
