Panel: History & Foreign Policy
In 2015 we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the end World War II and 25 years of German Unity. Thanks to the peaceful revolution of East Germans the wall fell — and many of the world’s leaders at the time supported Germany in its quest for reunification, with the US playing a very important role.
25 years later we want to examine how Germany has dealt with its past and how this shapes the present: What were the lessons learnt from history and how does it influence current perceptions and foreign policy? How do the US and the rest of the world perceive Germany’s role in the international community today?
